T-Shirts Part of Pirelli Participation in Match for Peace

August 29, 2014

Pirelli, Milan, recently announced its participation in the Inter-religious Match for Peace, a Sept. 1 international soccer match that will feature current and past players representing different cultures and religions.

As a company with production facilities in 13 countries and a commercial presence in more than 160, employing 39,000 people of 34 nationalities who speak more than 20 languages, the values that the Inter-religious Match for Peace represent — namely multicultural dialog and respect for others — have always been part of Pirelli’s genetic makeup, according to the company

In conjunction with the event, Pirelli and PZero have created a limited edition T-shirt, featuring the word “Peace” written in the world’s major languages. This “T-shirt for peace” will be available for purchase at the PIRELLI CORSO VENEZIA flagship store, through the Pirelli PZero and PUPI Foundation online stores, and at the stadium on match day. All of the proceeds from the sale of these T-shirts will go to the Scholas Occurrentes and PUPI Foundations.

Pirelli also has designed other initiatives to help everyone express support for the event. The members of the two teams, along with the drivers from all Formula 1 teams, recently autographed a P Zero Grand Prix tire, which was auctioned off on the PUPI Foundation eBay channel, with the proceeds to be donated to the Scholas Occurrentes and PUPI Foundations.

Pirelli also has launched the social media campaign #P4Peace. The initiative, which started within Pirelli with selfies of employees from around the world, has seen participation by more than 2.5 million people and been supported by more than 70,000 fans as of mid-August. People continue to publish selfies on their social networks, all signed with a “P” for peace drawn on their hands, faces, T-shirts, or on flags or banners. The selfies of Pirelli employees also have been made into a video, which will be shown at the Olimpico stadium on the evening of the match.
