Ricoma Intl. Corp., Miami, will host a one-day small-business workshop on Feb. 28 for anyone interested in general-business knowledge or apparel-industry information.
The free event will be held from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. at the company’s headquarters, located at 3450 N.W. 114th Ave. The workshop will include business seminars led by Henry Ma, Ricoma’s chief operating officer and graduate of New York University’s Stern School of Business. Also, technicians will demonstrate home and commercial embroidery machines throughout the day.
“People never really stop to think that embroidery is more than just a hobby — it’s a business,” Ma says. “Our job this year is to be the catalysts in our industry — the ones that break the stereotype and make people see the real business opportunities that arise here.”
Fashion designer and apparel expert Sofia Nicolaidis also will conduct several embroidery lessons during the workshop. Additionally, attendees can enter a free raffle, which will include giveaways and a grand prize of $1,000 toward any Ricoma embroidery machine. — J.L.
