A4 Goes Green with Recycled Polyester
A4, manufacturer of premium sportswear and team uniforms, is now making all its most popular apparel, and the vast majority of its line, with recycled polyester.
FULL STORYChampion Athleticwear, Winston-Salem, N.C., has introduced its Originals Collection, designed with a focus on printability, to the wholesale market.
The collection redefines the intersection of life and sport with fashionable apparel ideal for both active and social occasions, according to the company. The line features 12 contemporary men’s and women’s styles, all with premium materials. Its new fleece and French terry styles combine the nostalgia of crew-neck sweat shirts, hoodies and jogger pants with retail-driven styling and advanced fabrication.
The tri-blend tanks and tees feature a mix of heathers, soft washes and varsity stripes. The collection’s palette was chosen to create a mix of trend-setting colors. Adding to the sophisticated, heritage styling are collection-specific, external jocktags located on lower hems, according to the company.
“The new collection gives decorators a tremendous opportunity to capitalize on leading retail trends,” says John Spivey, marketing manager for Champion Athleticwear. “Premium athleticwear is dominant across retail, as are heritage brands and retro styles. Premium apparel specifically designed for embellishment provides a unique opportunity for growth. You have advanced fabrications, such as sueded fleece, that customers may not have seen before. And new silhouettes, like the swing tank and joggers, offer incremental opportunities.”
The line’s sueded fleece pullover hoodie, for example, is an 8.5-ounce, 80% cotton/20% polyester garment that features a 100% cotton face allows for superior screen or DTG printing, according to the company. The flat, woven drawstring and oatmeal-heather, jersey-lined hood add to the classic look and feel, according to the company. — J.L.
