Brother Sponsors Season 13 of ‘Project Runway’

August 1, 2014

For the seventh year, Brother Intl. Corp., Bridgewater, N.J., is partnering with Lifetime’s reality fashion show “Project Runway,” which returned July 24 for season 13.

Nineteen aspiring designers will hope to make a lasting impression on judges Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia, Zac Posen, and mentor Tim Gunn, in order to advance to the next level.

As part of its ongoing partnership with the show, Brother designs and markets the  “Project Runway” limited-edition Innov-is 40e sewing machine and the Innov-is 85e sewing and quilting machine. The Innov-is 40e features free-motion stitching and a Quick-Set drop-in top bobbin that helps prevent jams. It also has a built-in needle-threading system; 50 built-in stitches, including five one-step auto-size buttonhole styles; and stitch selection via dial and LCD display.

Innov-is 85e is a portable, lightweight machine that features 80 built-in stitches and one sewing lettering font, a built-in needle-threading system, ability to combine stitches for more creativity and a wide table for large projects.

“In each episode, Project Runway showcases our innovative and easy-to-use machines,” says Dean F. Shulman, senior vice president of Brother Intl. Corp. and head of the company’s home appliance and industrial products divisions. “It is a privilege to see the contestants use these amazing tools to create their unique fashions. Brother has continued its commitment as a long-term sponsor to demonstrate our support of young, emerging sewers with dreams of becoming fashion designers.”

The winner of Project Runway will receive and complete sewing and crafting studio from Brother and $100,000 from Red Robin to launch a business and the opportunity to design a fashion accessory for all Red Robin servers, among other prizes.
